 Bandwidth Calculation - An Introduction
Solution What is bandwidth and why does it matter when you sign up for web hosting? From a technical standpoint, bandwidth is the amount of data that passes through your connection to the Internet over a certain amount of time. It’s measured in bits-per-second or Megabits per second (bps and Mbps).

Often when companies speak of bandwidth they mention data transfer allowance. Simply put, data transfer allowance is the maximum amount of information you can transfer between your website and anyone accessing your site. Before you choose a web host, it’s important to estimate the amount of bandwidth you’ll require so that you purchase a package that provides a maximum amount of data transfer that won’t leave you short.

Bandwidth works like this: a website of 10 pages (each page being 25 kb in size) uses up 25 kb of data transfer if one visitor visits one page. 250 kb is used if that same person views all 10 pages. 100 users a day viewing all 10 pages ends up eating away at 24.41 Megs of data transfer. Multiply over a period of 30 days and you get the amount of bandwidth used in a month.

These calculations should help you determine approximately how much bandwidth you will require on a monthly basis.
